Finally, now we're presented with the long-awaited "green" PC Dell has been developing for a while now. Dell's new line of Studio Hybrid PC which launched earlier today is 80 percent smaller than the conventional desktop mini-tower (think Asus Eee box and the MSI Wind desktop PCs). The mini desktop PC is available in six colors (Emerald, Quartz, Ruby, Sapphire, Slate, and Topaz) as well as in Bamboo for an additional cost. Prices for the Studio Hybrid begin at $499 for the most basic configuration, and go up as you add optional specs or upgrade some such as choosing between a Blu-ray and a basic DVD drive or upping memory and storage capacity.
Dell's Studio Hybrid PC boasts Energy Star 4.0 compliance and claims to use 70 percent less energy than other desktop PCs. Even its power supply claims to be 87 percent efficient. Other than being energy efficient, Dell wraps up the PC in 95 percent recyclable material and even comes with a system-recycling kit. The Dell Studio Hybrid PC is now available for sale online at http://www.dell.com/hybrid.
